If you were following me on social media last weekend, then you accompanied me to BlogHer14 at the San Jose Convention Center. You walked with me through the Expo Hall where I experienced a magic hair transformation (stay tuned for that product review!), spun a wheel to win a board game, sampled delicious snacks, received a chair massage (or two), and connected to various businesses across all areas of interest. I met tons of bloggers, heard inspiring keynote speakers (including Tig Notaro, Kerry Washington, and Arianna Huffington!!) and had such a great time learning about what they were doing and how they were doing it.
Over the course of three full days at BlogHer, I absorbed a TON not only about how to make this site a better place to visit but also about how to make my blogging venture something I might one day be able to do full time (as in, possibly make some money at it!). In the next few months, you’re going to see a few minor shifts in the look and feel of this space, and I want you to know that I expect your full and honest feedback along the way!
I’m telling you this now, because you, my audience, are the most important factor in this whole operation. If you weren’t reading, I’d still be writing in my journal instead of blogging. I want you to be happy, so please let me know if you’re not.
Along those same lines, I really want to know what you’d like to see more of around here!
Is it recipes?
Stories about climbing?
Pictures of Dexter?
Your input will help me make this site the best it can be, and the only way for me to hear it is for you to share it.
Will you leave a comment below letting me know which types of posts you like best so I can make more of them?
What’s to Come?
- In the next few months, I’ll be revamping the look of the site, keeping everything in its easy-to-find place but creating a few shortcuts to make certain topics even easier to find.
- I’ll be adding a Favorites Page which will be a page for you to shop for all of my favorite products. This page will be my Affiliate Page, and I’ll get a small kickback if you purchase things through the links on it. I want to assure you that absolutely EVERYTHING on that page will be products that I use personally and LOVE. It is not now and will never be my intention to push products on you or lead you down a path that I wouldn’t travel myself.
- I’ll be placing a few non-intrusive ads on the page. I’ll likely start with GoogleAds, which you’ve probably seen on other blogs. In my experience, Google records what you’ve been looking at (definitely-not-ModCloth-dresses-and-shoes-I-have-no-idea-what-you’re-talking-about), and spits it back to you in an ad on my page.
- I’ll always be transparent when publishing a sponsored post or using an affiliate link. And again – I want to emphasize this point – ALL opinions will be my own, and I would never ever tell you that I liked something that I don’t actually like and use myself. I would even venture to guess that a number of products that might one day fall into this category will be products that I’ve already been using and linking to and endorsing for years without being paid for it.
As we go down our respective paths to wellbeing together, your trust and confidence is of utmost importance to me, and I promise that I won’t misuse it.
I don’t want to belabor this point any longer, but I do want to ask one more time for your feedback on what you’d like to see more of! Please comment below!
